    Core Functions / Responsibilities:
    • Perform an initial triage, upon arrival of the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in the sites and identify pre-existing mental health conditions in need for follow up treatment and cases in need of immediate referral to clinical services: victims of SGBV, people who are suicidal or harmful for themselves and the others, those showing serious psychotic episodes, people with pre-existing psychological disorders in need of continuation of treatment and substance abusers, especially those in abstinence crisis
    • Identify, and train other relevant actors in identifying people in need for immediate referral, as above.
    • Map existing national and humanitarian mental health services that are available and accessible to the sites residents, in order to organize referrals. This will include the identification of capacity gaps (ie the lack of interpretation) that should be referred to the project management and local authorities for further action.
    • Together with other agencies, develop and maintain an efficient mental referral system for refugees that require specialized medical attention.
    • Conduct regular individual and group therapies for refugees and other migrants in need, and provide referrals to psychiatrists if necessary. Avoid single-session therapies and those focussing on trauma. Avoid to start-up therapeutic processes that cannot be concluded during the stay of the person in the site. Contextualize care in the migration process of the individual client.
    • Provide induction sessions on case management for families and carers of the affected individuals.
    • Organize a weekly case management coordination meeting with all IOM team.
    • Provide weekly supervisory sessions to the psychosocial workers and social workers in the IOM teams.
    • Coordinate with relevant health authorities regarding the mental health of migrants and refugees

    • Perform an initial triage, upon arrival of the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees in the sites and identify pre-existing mental health conditions in need for follow up treatment and cases in need of immediate referral to clinical services: victims of SGBV, people who are suicidal or harmful for themselves and the others, those showing serious psychotic episodes, people with pre-existing psychological disorders in need of continuation of treatment and substance abusers, especially those in abstinence crisis
    • Identify, and train other relevant actors in identifying people in need for immediate referral, as above.
    • Map existing national and humanitarian mental health services that are available and accessible to the sites residents, in order to organize referrals. This will include the identification of capacity gaps (ie the lack of interpretation) that should be referred to the project management and local authorities for further action.
    • Together with other agencies, develop and maintain an efficient mental referral system for refugees that require specialized medical attention.
    • Conduct regular individual and group therapies for refugees and other migrants in need, and provide referrals to psychiatrists if necessary. Avoid single-session therapies and those focussing on trauma. Avoid to start-up therapeutic processes that cannot be concluded during the stay of the person in the site. Contextualize care in the migration process of the individual client.
    • Provide induction sessions on case management for families and carers of the affected individuals.
    • Organize a weekly case management coordination meeting with all IOM team.
    • Provide weekly supervisory sessions to the psychosocial workers and social workers in the IOM teams.

    Ο Διεθνής Οργανισμός Μετανάστευσης (ΔΟΜ), αναφέρει ότι 2.800 παιδιά προσφύγων και μεταναστών που διαμένουν σε ανοιχτά κέντρα φιλοξενίας συμμετείχαν φέτος στο πρόγραμμα εκπαίδευσης που χρηματοδοτείται από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση (ΕΕ) και εφαρμόζεται στην Ελλάδα για δεύτερη συνεχή χρονιά.

    Ο ΔΟΜ σε συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Έρευνας και Θρησκευμάτων και με την υποστήριξη της έκτακτης βοήθειας της ΕΕ, διασφαλίζει τη μεταφορά των μαθητών που διαμένουν σε ανοιχτά κέντρα φιλοξενίας από και προς τα σχολεία.

    Ο Γενικός Διευθυντής του ΔΟΜ, William Lacy Swing, αναγνωρίζοντας την επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση του προγράμματος για δεύτερη συνεχή χρονιά, υπογράμμισε αφενός την ευκαιρία των παιδιών προσφύγων και μεταναστών να συνεχίσουν την εκπαίδευσή τους στα ελληνικά σχολεία και αφετέρου το επιπλέον βήμα που κάνουν προς την ένταξή τους στην ελληνική κοινωνία.

    «Είμαι ιδιαιτέρως χαρούμενος που βλέπω αυτά τα παιδιά να επιστρέφουν στο σχολείο, ειδικά μετά τις δυσκολίες και τις στερήσεις που έχουν υποστεί. Το κενό στην εκπαίδευση είναι ζημιογόνο όχι μόνο για την εξέλιξη του παιδιού, αλλά και για την κοινωνία γενικότερα», ανέφερε ο Γενικός Διευθυντής του ΔΟΜ.

    Ο Ευρωπαίος Επίτροπος ανθρωπιστικής βοήθειας και διαχείρισης κρίσεων, Χρήστος Στυλιανίδης ανέφερε: «Έχουμε την ευθύνη να προλάβουμε την απώλεια γενεών και να  αποφύγουμε τον κίνδυνο τα παιδιά να μεγαλώνουν χωρίς εκπαίδευση. Η ΕΕ ηγείται παγκοσμίως στην πρόσβαση των παιδιών στα σχολεία με το 8% φέτος και το 10% του προϋπολογισμού μας τον επόμενο χρόνο να είναι αφιερωμένο στην εκπαίδευση. Το πρόγραμμα αυτό είναι ένα εξαιρετικό παράδειγμα συνεργασίας των ελληνικών αρχών, του ΔΟΜ και της ΕΕ. Οδήγησε ξανά τα παιδιά προσφύγων και μεταναστών στα σχολεία. Συνέβαλε με ιδιαίτερο τρόπο στον περιορισμό των ψυχικών και σωματικών φραγμών που εμποδίζουν την επιστροφή του παιδιού στο σχολείο».

    Σύμφωνα με τον ΔΟΜ, 88 λεωφορεία με 117 συνοδούς μετέφεραν 2,800 παιδιά από 26 ανοιχτά κέντρα φιλοξενίας σε 123 σχολεία. Στα παιδιά δόθηκε και ο απαραίτητος εξοπλισμός, όπως τετράδια, στυλό, μολύβια.

    Η πλειονότητα των παιδιών (91%) κατάγεται από τη Συρία σε ποσοστό 35%, το Ιράκ 31% και το Αφγανιστάν 25%, όπου και η εκπαίδευσή τους διεκόπη απότομα και τα σχολεία τους, είτε βομβαρδίστηκαν, είτε καταστράφηκαν.

    Περίπου 1,200 μαθητές, ερωτώμενοι από τον ΔΟΜ στο πλαίσιο έρευνας, βρήκαν την εμπειρία τους στο σχολείο ιδιαιτέρως θετική.

    Σύμφωνα με την έρευνα, το 92% δήλωσε ευχαριστημένο με τη μεταφορά, τη συνοδεία και τους κανόνες ασφαλείας. Το 89% δήλωσε ότι εκτιμά το σχολείο, τη μάθηση και την επικοινωνία με άλλα παιδιά, στοιχεία που αποτελούν δείκτες για την ένταξη στο ελληνικό εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα.

    «Το μάθημα ελληνικών είναι το αγαπημένο μου και δε με δυσκολεύει και καθόλου. Έχω φίλους στο ελληνικό σχολείο. Μόλις χτυπάει το κουδούνι για διάλειμμα πηγαίνουμε στην αυλή και παίζουμε όλοι μαζί μπάλα.     3. Demonstrate time management skills and ensures flexibility in the programme of visits in sites;
    4. Identify gaps (ie the lack of interpretation) that should be referred to the project management and local authorities for further action;
    5. Together with other agencies, develop and maintain an efficient mental health referral system for refugees;
    6. Conduct regular individual and group therapies for refugees and other migrants in need and provide referrals to psychiatrists if necessary. Avoid single-session therapies and those focusing on trauma;
    7. Avoid starting therapeutic processes that cannot be concluded during the stay of the person in the site. Contextualize care in the migration process of the individual client.
    8. Provide induction sessions on case management for families and carers of the affected individuals;
    9. Engage adequate and effective coordination with other IOM staff and informs adequately about changes in programme of visits of the mobile team;

    Context:
    In the framework of the emergency situation regarding the migrants, asylum seekers and refugees across Greece, IOM Greece is establishing a pool of candidates interested to join the organisation.

    Core Functions / Responsibilities:
    Under the overall supervision of the Program Coordinator, the successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
    • Assist with the coordination of the activities related to the provision of assistance and protection of unaccompanied minors within the shelters;
    • Oversees and coordinates all the protection related issues of the unaccompanied minors accommodated at the shelters in coordination with the Shelter Coordinators;
    • Proposes and produces management tools such as guidance notes to staff of the Program;
    • Participates and organizes meeting with staff of the shelters;
    • Maintains regular communication with donors, partners, migrant and asylum communities in Greece as well as with Greek national authorities (EKKA, Pubic Prosecutor, etc.) related with the migration and asylum of unaccompanied minors;
    • Organizes working meetings with the Program’s relevant stakeholders also keeping minutes in English;
    • Organizes program events (venues, communication, presentations, invitations, guest list) etc.;
    • Prepare reports of the project on a monthly basis;
    • Monitoring visits at the shelters;
    • Provide guidance and advice with regards crisis management;
    • Assist and provide advice to staff members under the project;
    • Secures project implementation according to IOM rules and regulations (to include procurement, non-conflict of interest etc.);
    • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

    Required Qualifications and Experience
    Education
    • Bachelor degree from an accredited University with 2 years of relevant working experience, or high school degree with 4 years of relevant experience;
    Experience
    • Experience in child protection would be considered as an advantage;
    • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities as well as with international institutions;
    • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills;
    • Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment;
    • Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc) and knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages, experience in handling of web based management systems.

    Under the supervision of the Senior Project Coordinator and the Area Coordinators, the main duties of the Project Coordinator (Integration) will be:
    • Supervise the implementation of the activities related to Integration Monitoring and the Sensitization of the Host Community, alongside the outreach to potential employers;
    • Provide guidance and instructions to the Integration Project Assistants and Municipality Focal Points;
    • Provide advice to the Area Coordinator on host community sensitization matters;
    • Liaise with IOM staff, including the management, Procurement, Finance and Media and Communication staff on the implementation of the integration monitoring and sensitization activities; • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
    Required Qualifications and Experience

    Education

    University degree and/or higher in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations or equivalent, with at least 3 years of relevant working experience.
